STATES OF BLUE - West Projections Festival

Four free guided evening walks to the sites with artist talks and performances. Come and Experience Footscray after dark as you have never seen it before.

Each walk visits unique sites of projection.

Walk 4 - Alleys and Laneways

Iconic Kindred Studios will be the starting site to view work by artist Lisa Cianci. Along Hyde St to The Art Room’s new location who will host Amie Batalibasi.  Maribyrnong City Council’s Bluestone Church Art space will celebrate blue in its architecture. City West Water presents Brad Hammond's interactive work from Big Fish at Ryko building. We end our walk where Back Alley Sally’s will accommodate artist EGO and our closing party with the Quantum Van.

Please be aware that numbers are restricted at Back Alley Sally's due to maximum capacity of 100 people. Entry may be limited on the night. Thank you for your understanding.

Walk 3 - A view through children's eyes

Walk 3 - A view through children's eyes

This special guided walk is for children and families. We begin at one of the oldest theatres, The Barkly Theatre. Artists Joyce Watts and Jo Skladzien recreate historical Footscray through shadow puppets. We see their video work next door at Botanicals on Barkly. A short stroll to 100 Story Building to view the creations of Ana Rita and Mito Elias’s children’s workshops. We finish at VU Metro West with Skunk Control’s Oscillator and Quantum Van. 

Please note that the Barkly Theatre has restricted numbers. If you were unable to secure a ticket, we encourage that you meet us outside 100 Story Building, 92 Nicholson Street Footscray, at 6:30pm.

  • Each child with an adult - max 3 children per adult
  • All children must be supervised.
  • Group size 20 MAX (inc adults and children)

Walk 2 - States of Blue

Walk 2 - States of Blue

Celebrating VU Arts Week and the Launch of States of Blue we begin at Victoria University (VU) Nicholson Street Campus. VU students works produced through Polytechnic courses. Past the Idea Collective to see Cat Lews work. Brad Hammond's interactive projection at City West Water. Along VU Metro West to see Glynn Urquharts work and installation by Skunk Control. Finishing off at States of Blue Celebration in Maddern Square with pop-up bar, food trucks, DJ and Quantum Van until 9pm.

Walk 1 - Artists' Operated

Walk 1 - Artists' Operated

We begin at Footscray Community Arts Centre (FCAC) and view the works of the in-house ArtLife and Arts Learning programs. We cross the Footscray train line to visit Weekly Ticket (off-peak). Along Leeds and Hopkins streets to video works by Corrine Berndt, Youjia Lu and Kellie Wells at Trocadero Art Space and Five Walls Projects. Around to Faux Pho Studios to view Paola Ballas work. Finishing at Littlefoot carpark (Quantum Van) and bar with projections by Jess Dubblu and Shae Rooke from Yonder Art Space

  • FCAC bar will be open prior to 6pm so arrive early for a pre-walk refresher
